Best Devotional For Too Much Work Anxiety and Stress

Anxiety is the state of someone being worried about a situation in life. Anxiety causes one not to be settled because of fear of a bad happening in life.

God doesn’t want us to live lives full of anxiety and worries. This shows lack of faith and trust in Him.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
— Philippians 4:6

Apostle Paul wrote in the above scripture that prayer is the only way that we can deal with anxiety in our lives.

Let’s look at the types of prayer that can help us deal with anxiety.

  1. Prayer of supplication.

Supplication is making a humble petition to God. The reason that makes us petition God because He promises us in the scriptures that we should cast all our burdens to Him for He is a caring God.

Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
— Psalms 55:22

Anxiety on the other hand is caused by someone carrying their own burden. This is when someone has put their care upon themselves thinking that they can manage on their own instead of involving God in what they are passing through.

Prayer is therefore the act of showing humility and submission to God. It is a way of surrender, telling God that you cannot manage on your own therefore you are giving Him a chance to take control over your situation.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
— 1 Peter 5:6-7

God knows everything we need even before we even ask. But He wants us to continue relating and having communion with Him through prayer. Prayer is a time to ask, seek and knock.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
— Mathew 7:7-8

Therefore instead of anxious, let us grab this opportunity and present all our requests to be known to God in prayer.

2. Prayer of thanksgiving.

Our hearts should always overflow with thanksgiving. We should realize that all that we are and all that we have is by the grace of God.

If we realize that the far that we have reached in life is only through the power of God we will never be anxious. Instead, we will endeavor to trust God in everything.

This is realizing that just as He did it in the past and has been doing it in our lives, He is able to do it even in the situation that we are currently in.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men
— 1 Timothy 2:1

Prayer:

Lord Jesus we thank you for what you have done for us and what you are already doing  in our lives. We chose today not to be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving we will let our requests be made known to you in prayer.

We chose not to be anxious but trust you in everything as you are a caring God. We love you for it is in Jesus name we pray, amen.

Conclusion:

Dealing with anxiety and stress, especially in the workplace, is a part of life that we will all have to deal with. However, the Bible tells us that by submitting ourselves to the Lord and trusting in his guidance and immense knowledge, we can rid our minds of the thoughts that plague us with anxiety.
